Community Engagement through research and teaching are proven ways that meet significant community needs. Rich Berrett of CSU Fresno discussed the "nuts and bolts" of creating a course and corresponding syllabus that has the potential to build civic awareness in students while addressing community issues related to the course curriculum. |

During this workshop faculty members discussed models of Study Abroad Programs offered through Continuing Education of Cal Poly. This workshop also gave the participants an opportunity to meet other faculty members interested in global service. They discussed the "Mechanics" of global collaboration involving students.

This workshop will examine models of Study Abroad Programs at Cal Poly and discuss integrating global community service with Cal Poly curriculum. Cal Poly faculty, staff and students will share their successes and challenges in global Service Learning. Several global Service Learning models and resources will be discussed. This workshop will also provide faculty members an avenue to network with other faculty members who are interested in global service learning.
Workshop Date: Tuesday, October 28 from 3:00-5:00 pm

This awards ceremony is held annually and is sponsored by President Warren Baker and the Community CENTER, a part of the Student Life and Leadership department. The ceremony recognizes students, faculty, and staff for their contributions to the San Luis Obispo community.
