Subject Matter Certification

There are two ways to become Subject Matter Certified in Physics or Chemistry:

(1) Take and pass three CSET tests.

1. General Science: Astronomy, Dynamics, Processes of the Earth, Earth Resources, Waves, Forces, Motion, Electricity and Magnetism
2. General Science: Ecology, Genetics, Evolution, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell and Oganizational Biology, Heat Transfer, Themodynamics, Structures, and Properties of Matter.
3. Physics or Chemisty

 or

 (2) Complete a subject matter coursework program in physics or chemistry.

If you are going to meet the subject matter competency through Cal Poly's coursework program listed below, then complete one of the following Subject matter competency forms (physics or chemistry), and then see your advisor. All coursework must have been completed within the last seven years.
