housing resources
back to life

Can you find housing in San Francisco? YES ? ? it does take time and persistence. You must allow at least three weeks to look and preferably start as soon as possible. Every quarter thousands of students in the Bay Area (SFState, UC?Berkeley, UC?Medical Center, University of San Francisco, etc.) find housing. You can use all the student housing offices at these campuses to get housing listings or names of other students looking for roommates.

ROOMMATE SERVICES: http://www.craigslist.com is the most popular list. It's free and has shared room as well as sublet categories. I think Yahoo also has a rental list as well as Roommateline.com. Rentech is another one, but is not free. Others are listed in the newspaper & yellow pages.

"DRIVING AROUND AND LOOKING FOR RENTAL SIGNS"
Many SF Landlords save $$ by simply putting a "for rent" sign in the window ( since Chronicle ads are very expensive). Three guys got a reasonably?priced place in North Beach this way.

RENTAL MAGAZINES
Apartment complexes advertise in the magazines in newsracks at the bus stops.

Village Square 415.285.1231 415.285.1483 fax 5285 Diamond Heights Blvd. SF, 94131 The leasing agent said they were happy to have Cal Poly students there for a quarter. Four students lived there during spring 99 qtr. Probably not as cheap as a roommate placement.
