The
National Agri-Marketing Association Club offers
many things to its members: industry tours, guest speakers,
the Ag
Showcase, internships, development of leadership skills,
the Marketing Team, fun, and good friends.
Congratulations to the NAMA Club officers for 2003-2004:
President Sarah Kramer, Vice President Renee Avilla, Secretary
Kallie Donnelly, Treasurer Jeanette Irigaray, Ag Council
Representative Nikki Thompson, and Ag Showcase Co-Chairs
Seth Fiack and Tiffany Amador.
One of the most famous NAMA offerings is the Ag Showcase,
which is an excellent opportunity to network with 65 companies
from all over the nation. Over 900 students attend this
event and it is an excellent opportunity for companies
to showcase their employment opportunities. It is not
designed as a "job fair," but as a venue to let the public
know what types of opportunities are available in the
agribusiness industry. Quite frequently the company representatives
know of current employment opportunities available within
their companies and they make arrangements to conduct
interviews after the Showcase is finished. The next Ag
Showcase will be January 29, 2004. If you would like more
information sent to you concerning this event, please
contact the Agribusiness Department at 805/756-5000.
The Marketing Team is also a vital part of the Agribusiness
Department. The national competition is held annually
in the Spring and is intensely competitive. The team is
usually selected mid-October and represents an actual
client. We have won the national championships seven times
in twenty-two years. We are quite proud of this fact,
as no other college team has won more than twice.
This year's team consists of: Julie Dill, Gino Dibuduo,
Melissa Yerxa, Erik Funfar, Martin Flores, and Coach Tom
Frawley.
The NAMA Club usually meets the second Tuesday of each
month. Signs showing location and agenda are usually posted
in the hallways of Building 10. The 2003-2004 schedule
will be posted here as soon as it is available. The first
meeting of the school year includes a BBQ. Be sure to
look for signs in the hallway to find out more about this
event. The club meets in Building 10, Room 221 at 6:00
p.m.
