            Technical Military Assignments:

 

Engineer Battalion Commander, 169th Engineer Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri (1997-1999).  Commander of an 1100 soldier battalion which trains over 3,000 soldiers a year in basic combat training and the individual skills of combat engineer, bridge crewmember, electrician, heavy equipment operator, surveying, soils analyst, carpenter, and draftsman.

 

Engineer Operations Officer and Personnel Officer, Fort Benning, Georgia (1991-1994).  Responsible for the training, management, and operational readiness of a 500-person engineering battalion and a 1200-person engineer group.  Planned, organized, and executed several engineering construction projects.  Deployed to Somalia as part of Operation Restore Hope and to south Florida during Hurricane Andrew relief operations.

 

Engineer Company Commander, Fort Belvoir, Virginia (1983-1985).  Leadership, operational, and maintenance responsibility for an engineering company of over 400 soldiers.

 

Platoon Leader and Civil Engineer, Karlsruhe, Germany (1978-1981).  Platoon leader in charge of numerous troop construction projects throughout Germany, Greece, and Turkey.  Civil Engineer for a 3,500 soldier engineer brigade responsible for design, planning, and oversight of numerous construction projects throughout Europe.
