How Does Surface Chemistry Help Soldiers Under Fire?
Researchers with the Cal Poly Polymers and Coatings Program (in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry) partnered with the U.S. Army to develop a lightweight mesh and polymer-based splinting system to immobilize fractures in tactical environments. That’s one example of the many sponsored projects our faculty pursue in applied research and development, consulting, product testing, analytical testing, curriculum design and development, and community service, across all disciplinary areas.
Research, scholarship, and creative endeavors are core to any university. Faculty research renews classroom teaching. Student research sharpens skills and cultivates talent. As a polytechnic university, we bring talented scholars and specialized facilities to the applied research arena, moving our partners and the world from asking to doing.
