Central UNIX Web Account Changes
Central UNIX computer equipment was replaced in October 2006. This change affected individual, department and club UNIX account holders.
Changes included:
UNIX logins are now authenticated using the standard Cal Poly username and password (the same one you use to access the My Cal Poly Portal).
Uploading your Web files now require using a secure connection. This requires changes in your software settings if you use a publishing program (like Dreamweaver or FrontPage) or ftp software. See Uploading to Central UNIX for more information.
Quotas have been increased to 50Mb per account.
Upon creation of new accounts, permission settings to a user's public_html directory (the folder in which Web files are stored on Central UNIX accounts) will be set to automatically allow viewing by anyone accessing your web site. There is no longer a need to run the "Websetup" program.
Please take a moment to review if your UNIX account has been affected by the Central UNIX Web migration and determine what changes you need to make to access your web files.
