Mackenzie Murphy, Class of 2003, has a position with LRN Corporation, a New York based ethics and sustainability consulting firm. LRN's mission is to help companies "translate their values into concrete corporate practices and leadership behaviors."
Todd Cardiff, Class of 1995, and wife Lee Vik are the proud parents of their first son, Griffin Robert Cardiff. Todd has a law practice in San Diego "dedicated to helping environmental groups, community groups and individuals weave their way through the complicated world of land use, governmental law, homeowners' association disputes, contracts and litigation."
Nate Dunn, Class of 2001, has accepted a position as an associate attorney with the Alameda legal firm of Chapman and Intrieri LLP. Nate previously was an associate attorney with the San Francisco based firm Cook Collection Attorneys. Nate holds a Juris Doctorate degree from Wake Forest University, and passed the California Bar in 2008.
Dan Scott, Class of 1999, is chair of the Communication Arts Department at Fresno City College. As department chair, Dan oversees an academic program that includes communication studies, film studies, and journalism. In addition to his Cal Poly degree, Dan holds a Master of Arts degree from Fresno State.
Rebecca (Lipschultz) Mieliwocki, Class of 1990, has been named California Teacher of the Year by the state Department of Education. See News & Notes for more details as well as a link to an article about Rebecca in the Los Angeles Daily News.
David Haskell, Class of 2003, is ABD in Communication at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Now working in New York City, David has joined Waiting on Others, an original web-series as its producer and plans to premier the series on YouTube on Janaury 16. Patrick McClintock, Class of 2007, is Project Manager for Poor Richard's Press in San Luis Obispo.
Roger Gatchet, Class of 2001, received his Ph.D. in Communication Studies from the University of Texas-Austin in May 2011. Roger is now an Assistant Professor of Communication at Eastern New Mexico University.
Hillary Hicks, Class of 2011, is a Recruiter for San Diego Based sales recruiting and job placement company Culver Careers.
Rachelle Avery, Class of 2007, has entered the Communication Studies Master of Arts program at the University of North Texas. Before returning to school, Rachelle was an event planner and marketing coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys organization.
Paden Followwill, Class of 2009, is now working with the WAV Group, a firm that provides professional consulting services to the real estate industry. Paden works out of the Group's West Coast offices in Arroyo Grande, where she is Content Coordinator for the Group's internet start-up firm, RE Technology, Inc. RE Technology provides a web portal for multiple listing service systems, giving real estate agents and brokers access to information, reviews, and product ratings for real estate technology products. Paden is responsible for the full array of content management for the site, including writing, editing, and content maintennance.
Ashby deWilde, Class of 2009, is the Outside Sales Manager for zozi.com, an online portal for discounted local area activities that currently features more than 60 major markets. Ashby is responsible for outside sales in San Francisco, which is the company's headquarters market. She has been with Zozi since the company's start-up.
Kristy (Malm) Oriol, Class of 2007 received her Masters of Public Policy & Administration from CSU-Sacramento on May 20. Kristy has accepted a job as Public Policy Coordinator with Aging Services of California, a public policy advocacy and education coordinating group representing more than 400 non-profit providers of services for senior citizens.
Steven Wolf, Class of 2009, received his Master of Arts degree in Communication at West Texas A&M University on May 14. His thesis project was titled "It Takes Courage: Telling the Stories of Students from Elsewhere" (click on the title to link to his thesis abstract). Steven is remaining in Texas for the upcoming year to work with The Navigators, a campus ministry group, while he researches possible doctoral programs in intercultural communication.
