The B. S. degree program in the Kinesiology Department is a broad-based program offering students a wide range of career opportunities. The concentration choices include Teaching, Exercise Science and Health Promotion. The major also offers an Individualized Course of Study that allows a student to design a program for Nursing, Physician Assistant or Occupational Therapy. General

Teaching
The teaching concentration is designed to: combine theory, practice and field experiences which lead to the acquisition of effective behavior for teaching skills, especially in the public school setting; and prepare students to meet state competencies required for application to the Single Subject Credential program in physical education. Exercise Science and Health Promotion
Incorporates the scientific and clinical knowledge of exercise science, health education and nutrition as applied in preventive, clinical and commercial health promotion settings. Graduates work in a wide range of enterprises that include worksite health promotion, clinical exercise physiology, cardiac rehabilitation, commercial fitness facilities, public, private and non-profit health agencies. The concentration provides three tracks that will prepare students to take external national certification examinations. Individualized Course of Study
ICS is a concentration that is decided upon by the student in consultation with her/his faculty advisor. The concentration must include 36 units of course work in addition to the Major, Support, and General Education and Breadth Requirement Courses. The 36 units are selected on the basis that they will assist the student in becoming qualified in their area of interest.
