Santino "Sonny" Galvan is a freelance trombonist on the Central Coast. He plays bass trombone with the San Luis Symphony. He has also performed with Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts (PCPA) and Opera San Luis Obispo. Galvan also teaches at Paso Robles High School, where he directs the jazz, percussion, marching and symphonic bands. Prior to teaching at Paso Robles High School, he was an elementary and middle school music teacher with Paso Robles Public Schools.
Before coming to the Central Coast, he lived in the Central Valley where he played with the C.O.S Night Band, and has performance credit with the Kings and Tulare Symphony. He also taught in the elementary, middle and high school levels in Kingsburg and Reedley.
Galvan attended Kings River Community College and CSU, Fresno. His low brass instructors were Ed Hull, Bob Bergstrom and Larry Sutherland. Galvan is a member of CBDA, CMEA, MENC and The International Trombone Association (I.T.A)
