What does a student spend in London during a term?
Budgets vary dramatically, depending on individual choices, your personal spending habits, the amount of traveling done, and to a large part upon the exchange rate. Generally speaking, the summer quarter in London costs an additional $4,200 - $4,500 above what a student would spend if he/she remained in San Luis Obispo.
This sample budget includes expenses you would have if you were also on campus in the summer.

- The quarterly registration fee depends upon the college through which the student is enrolled. For updated quarterly registration fees, please visit Student Account's Payment Schedule web page. Registration fees are payable to Cal Poly prior to course registration.
Please note that non-Cal Poly students participating in the Summer Study in London Program will be required to enroll in the London courses via Cal Poly's Open University Enrollment Program.
- The program fee is $6,610. This fee covers housing, transportation within London zones 1 & 2, field trips, insurance, and orientation. Other costs NOT covered in the program fee include tuition, flight, meals, and books and supplies. Some program expenses such as meals, and books and supplies will be made abroad in the foreign currency. Thus, these expenses are dependent upon the exchange rate between the US$ and the foreign currency, which changes on a daily basis.
Please note that personal expenses such as travel outside of London are not included in the total cost. Due to the six-week duration of the program, traveling to Scotland, Ireland, and to the continent is encouraged at the completion of the program
The program fee is payable to the service-provider, the Foundation for International Education (FIE). A $500 program deposit is required upon application to the program. The remainder of the program fee is due to FIE on May 19, 2008, 30 days prior to your departure to London.
Any arrangements for payment schedules need to be made directly with FIE. Financial aid will be awarded to students who qualify on the first day of classes at Cal Poly which is June 23, 2008. You will need to make arrangements for payment with FIE .
