On February 5, 2008, Chancellor Reed approved a $200 study abroad fee for students participating in the following Cal Poly affiliated study abroad programs beginning Summer 2008: AustraLearn, Cultural Experiences Abroad (CEA), the Danish Institute for Study Abroad (DIS), the Foundation for International Education (FIE), and the University Studies Abroad Consortium (USAC).
This fee is approved to cover administrative costs incurred to partner with study abroad programs around the world. The $200 charge will be placed on the student's Cal Poly account during the registration period for the term the student will study abroad. The fee payment is due within four days, unless the student is receiving financial aid. Failure to pay the fee within the four-day period will result in a "hold" on the student's account.
This campus study abroad fee will not result in additional costs for the student because the study abroad program provider will also issue a $200 automatic discount to be deducted from the student's study abroad program fees.
Refund Policy: If you decide to withdraw from a study abroad program, the Study Abroad Office must be notified in writing at least 60 days before the study abroad program start date. With proper notification we will credit the $200 on the student's Cal Poly student account.
