Health Services
As a result of registering and paying fees, all Cal Poly students are entitled to outpatient medical services at no additional charge. These services include:
* ( Availability and cost of some services are subject to change)
We provide urgent care services, including diagnosis and treatment of illness, repair of lacerations, and minor fractures.
MOST SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE BY APPOINTMENT. URGENT CARE IS AVAILABLE ON A WALK-IN BASIS. APPOINTMENTS CAN BE MADE BY CALLING 756-1211 OR IN PERSON.
Currently enrolled students who possess a valid student identification card are eligible for Health and
Counseling Services on this campus; basic health services are also available at other CSU campuses for currently enrolled students. Concurrent and special program students may use health services on a low-cost, fee-for-service basis.Staff and faculty are provided with first aid and Workers' Compensation health care services. Campus visitors are provided with first aid services.
For medical and surgical problems beyond the scope of Health and
Counseling Services, we strongly recommend students be covered by an insurance plan. In a recent survey conducted by the Student Health Advisory Council, less than half of students indicated they knew how to use their insurance in an emergency. Trying to find this information when you need it can be very difficult. So please have a copy of your supplemental health insurance identification card with you at all times, and know how to use it.
Health Services strongly recommends it. Cal Poly cannot pay for off-campus care; therefore, for medical and surgical problems beyond the scope of Health Services, each student is encouraged to have their own coverage for major medical, surgical and emergency expenses. A low-cost, limited-benefit policy written for CSU students is available through a private company

The Student Health Advisory Council (SHAC), an organization open to all students, acts as liaison between Health Services and the student body. Its volunteer members help promote programs such as blood drives, sponsor guest speakers on health topics, and serve on Health Services committees. SHAC is interested in members. Student input is always important. Inquire at Health Services. PEER HEALTH EDUCATORS - Peer health educators are students who are trained to promote awareness about alcohol and other drugs, sexuality, nutrition, and lifestyle wellness. They act as resources for students through workshops, individual consultations, and other activities that address health-related issues on campus. Applications are welcome during Winter Quarter.
