The sponsor provides funding for a networking activity bringing together nationally funded research activities for four to five years to address a major scientific issue or a science-driven topic of research infrastructure at the European level with the aim of advancing the frontiers of science.

Support is provided for transatlantic research cooperation among German, American, and/or Canadian scholars (Ph.D. required) in the humanities, social sciences, economics, and law. The sponsor provides EUR 45,000 (currently, about US$ 59,000) over a three-year period.

Applications may be submitted at any time, although deadlines for submission of applications for support have been set as follows to coincide with meetings of the Advisory Panels: 1 December 2005 : 1 March 2006 : 1 July 2006 : 1 November 2006. The first three deadlines above refer to applications for support in 2006, while the deadline of 1 November 2006 refers to applications for support in 2007.

Synopsis

The sponsor supports high level teaching activities where a carefully defined subject, systematically presented, is treated in depth by lecturers of international standing, and new advances in a subject, not taught elsewhere, are reported in tutorial form. ASI's should be co-directed by a scientist from both a NATO country and a partner country of the EAPC or a country of the Mediterranean Dialogue.

The sponsor seeks proposals for research and development of innovative heating and cooling technologies for residential and commercial buildings. The proposed technologies must achieve increased energy efficiency or environmental performance in New York State. Up to $1.250,000 is available; multiple awards of up to $300,000 are expected.

The sponsor offers support for projects to mitigate environmental impacts of power generation critical to maintaining fuel diversity and system reliability in NYS; and that result in quantifiable energy, environmental, and economic benefits to New York State (NYS). Engineering studies, demonstrations, product development as well as technology assessments and research studies will be supported under this Program Opportunity Notice. The sponsor seeks to address opportunities for improvements in the environmental performance for power generation through the entire range of sizes from small to large power generators. Up to $2.0 million will be available.
